How I got here

My relationship with movement started at 18, as an acting student at drama school. Three years of releasing tension in the body, understanding breath and learning how to be really present in a room. After graduating I worked in screen and theatre, carrying all of those principles with me.

In 2020, like most actors, I was more out of work than in it. In the quieter periods I wanted to do something I loved just as much, so I trained as a Level 3 personal trainer, and then we all went straight into lockdown. At home I discovered mat Pilates, and the difference it made in my own body was enough to make me want to understand it properly.

So I began training with STOTT, one of the most respected Pilates teacher training programmes in the world, and the makers of the reformers we use at Wild Fox. The training was technical and incredibly rewarding, and it changed the way I approach anatomy and teaching. I'm certified in mat and reformer, and I've trained in both all the way to Advanced level. Since then I've done separate courses in pre and postnatal, and in injuries and special populations, plus the Wunda Chair. I'm first aid trained, and I plan to keep training across all the equipment. It's a lifelong thing.

Why Pilates

I always find the more you reveal in Pilates, the more questions you have. The deeper the understanding, the more you're willing to challenge yourself. Pilates, for me, has never felt like a means to an end or, worse, a gruelling punishment. Practice, by its very definition, is unfinished. So I love that every time I get on the reformer I get to explore what my body can do. Every day is different.

I want Wild Fox to be a place for lots of little victories. Pilates creeps up on you. One day you can't do something, the next you're the example to the room. When you practise often it's easy to lose sight of how far you've come, but your teachers see it. And I'll remind you every time you can't see it yourself.

A class with me

Clear, specific cues that get to the heart of each exercise. Then layers, with options to explore: range of motion, resistance, tempo, balance and coordination.

I'll give you a bit of sass if I know we have that relationship, and I won't if we don't. I will never make you feel bad for taking a rest. My classes aren't serious or scary. Some days you might feel excited, even a bit nervous before class: "What is she going to make us do today?" But I'll always want you to leave feeling incredible.
